Infographics
Below are examples of infographic projects where I was required to research a subject, distill the most crucial information on that subject, and design an infographic that effectively told a story or taught a concept via text and illustrations.
Netflix Infographic
During different school projects, I was given the opportunity to design some infographics that helped explain or present different topics. This project was a challenge as not only did these graphics need to be attractive and interesting to look at, but I also had to find a way to include enough information to allow an outsider to understand the concept.
This infographic was intended as a brief history of Netflix and how the company has affected the television and film industries. I’m happy with the way this turned out as I think I was able to provide an amount of information and insight that would allow an individual to better understand the topic.
This project required multiple versions of this document to be submitted for review. One version was a normal 72ppi (online standard for small screens). The other was a large export file to be displayed on a two-storey microtile wall. This required several colours to change to allow for better contrast in the poster and to provide several separate compositions that would form together on the smaller, high-resolution screens.
If I could go back and change this graphic slightly, I would probably change the colours and increase the contrast a little in order to address people who are visually impaired or are colour blind.
This infographic was to be used as an aid for learning how computer hard drives function. I’m extremely pleased with the designs and diagrams that I created for this graphic as I think they help show how hard drives work.
Though, if I could go back I would change the body font to something that is easier to read and is more differentiated from the headings. In addition, I would like to change the structure of the infographic to better improve the narrative flow of the information presented.
